Our diet is probably the most challenging aspect of staying healthy and will require some discipline on your part. During our trips, our options are often limited to airport food which is usually not as healthy as we need and always overpriced. Once we get to our hotels, our options improve but are mostly chain restaurants and again overpriced. (Although the expenses with this type of eating are one of the key points I'd like to cover, it will be under the Finance tab above) The other option and one commonly used by pilots is to prep meals ahead of the trip and bring a small cooler. I believe this to be a better option than dining out and will elaborate more below.
Although about 80% of our health is determined by our diet, we can't neglect the other 20% which is related to our fitness. Don't let that 20% intimidate you, it doesn't have to be an extensive gym routine to be effective. Gym memberships may be a challenge since we have so many different stops and our favorite gyms might not be readily accessible at each of them. The one advantage that we do have is that the majority of hotels have a fitness center to use free of charge. Although most of them have minimal equipment, they almost all will have some sort of cardio equipment.
